AHEAD will take part in the European Mobility Week, taking place in the city of Funchal from 16-22 September. This European initiative aims to raise awareness among citizens and institutions about adopting more sustainable and energy-efficient behaviors.
AHEAD’s participation will be highlighted in two ways, at a dedicated booth showcasing the project, as part of the exhibition of initiatives supported by the Municipality of Funchal, and during the conference “Electric Mobility: Contributions to the Energy Transition!”, on 17 September, co-organized by IST-ID and the Municipality of Funchal.
The conference will be opened by the Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Funchal, who will address the strategic vision for mobility in Funchal as well as the projects undertaken by the Municipality to foster mobility and accessibility. The program will then feature contributions from several AHEAD partners in Portugal:
- EEM – Empresa de Eletricidade da Madeira, with a presentation on “Electric Mobility in the Regional Electricity Sector”;
- INESC-ID – Instituto de Engenharia de Sistemas e Computadores – Investigação e Desenvolvimento, with the official presentation of the AHEAD
The event will also include the presentation of the European project EV4EU and an intervention by the Regional Energy and Environment Agency of Madeira (AREAM), focusing on “Decarbonizing Mobility in the Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan for the Autonomous Region of Madeira (PAESC-RAM)”.
All speakers will participate in a Q&A session open to the public, encouraging dialogue and interaction with attendees. The conference will close with remarks from the Municipality’s Deputy Mayor.
The participation of AHEAD in this initiative reinforces the project’s commitment to promoting electric mobility and the energy transition, bridging research, innovation, and local action towards a more sustainable future.
